Charles City Lodge #418 is a member of the Iowa Elks Association. This association is comprised of the 30 Elks Lodges located across the state of Iowa,

These member Lodges work together to help promote Grand Lodge programs in the state. In addition, the State Association has adopted the Fire Safety Initiative in conjunction with the Iowa Fireman's Association. This partnership has helped provide several Fire Safety trailers to communities across the state. This program has impacted thousands of elementary age students by teaching them fire saftey techniques in addition to storm safety.

Other projectes the state supports include Americanism, Drug Awareness, Scholarship, Summer Camp, Youth Activities, Youth Bowling, Youth Golf, Hoop Shoot®, Variety Club Telethon, Elks National Veterans Service Programs, Veterans Leather Program, and the Adopt a Veteran Program.

In addition, the State Association sponsors bowling and golf tournaments for its members each year.

As you can see, there are many opportunities for involvement at the state level for our members.

GRAND LODGE B.P.O.E.

Charles City Lodge #418 is a subordinate Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the Unites States of America. In 1868, the B.P.O.E. was organized to "inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity, and to quicken the spirit of American patriotism."

"The Order of Elks is an organization of American citizens who love their country and desire to preserve its cherished institutions; who love their fellow man and seek to promote his well being; who love the joyousness of life and endeavor to contribute to it as well as to share it.

The Order questions no man's religion; nor bars him on account of his creed. It is not concerned with one's political affiliations. And it does not permit either religion or politics to be injected into, nor have any effect upon, its fraternal deliberations, national or local."  - from an Elks handbook.
